Aloe Vera Gel And Lemon Did Wonders To my Skin

Homemade Aloe Vera and lemon juice cream

If glowing skin is what you’re after, then this easy-peasy homemade skin cream with Aloe Vera and lemon juice is definitely for you!

Skincare plays an essential role in your whole personality, and taking care of your facial skin is crucial. Aloe vera gel  is that one ingredient that is more versatile in skincare, nothing else can compete. Aloe vera can hydrate the skin, fight acne, keep wrinkles at bay, nourish hair, soothe rashes, heal wounds, mend your broken heart and fix your life.

Aloe vera and lemon are a match made in heaven for those with dull skin.

As my acne cleared up in my early 20s, my very oily skin promptly transformed into combination skin. Exfoliants that once left my skin glowing, now made it dry. That’s when I decided to do it my way and give this remedy a try. You too should!

Since Aloe Vera Gel is loaded with amino acids, it nourishes the skin and boosts collagen production. Not to mention, its high-water content ensures that your skin gets the hydration it needs. It can also help lighten those annoying spots, flaky skin, acne marks, dark spots, and pigmentation for brighter, glowing skin. Now is the time to use aloe vera to give your skin a boost of natural hydration and moisture.

Lemon juice on the other hand, is bursting with vitamin C which brightens the skin. It also contains citric acid which sloughs away dead skin cells. Aloe vera and vitamin C make a fantastic skin-brightening combo. It is a natural remedy that nourishes the skin, enhances skin texture thus banish dull skin.

I also added milk cream to make it more thick plus the nutrients found in milk made this remedy even more effective and that was a big +. You can as well use yogurt instead of milk cream (use what you have at home).

The lactic acid, vitamin A, D, E, and K, and protein present in milk makes it a mild exfoliating and hydrating agent. It’s a good toner for dry skin. Milk creams help clear dark spots, heal tanning, and acne over time, thanks to lactic acid.

Yogurt is known for its natural moisturising characteristics, which help in giving the skin a natural glow and gloss.

While adding lemon juice to Aloe vera gel can provide potential benefits, it’s important to note that lemon juice can be acidic and may cause skin irritation or sensitivity in some individuals. I also recommend using pure homemade Aloe vera gel or try seven minerals organic Aloe vera with vitamin E which can be a a safer option as it is formulated with natural ingredients that provide nourishment and hydration to the skin without the potential risks associated with adding lemon juice.

What You’ll Need

  • 1 Sharp knife
  • 1 Measuring spoon
  • 1 Mixing spoon
  • 1 Small bowl
  • 1 Towel

  • 4 tbsp aloe vera
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp milk cream/yogurt

How To Make

01. Cut Your Aloe Vera

If you are sourcing your aloe from your own Aloe vera plant, cut an older-looking leaf off as close to the base of the plant as possible.

Then, cut a 3-inch portion off to use for your cream. You can place the rest in a container and store it in freezer for later use.

02. Collect The Aloe

Use a sharp knife to open the piece lengthwise and scrape the Aloe vera with the knife or spoon.

Squeeze and scrape the Aloe vera liquid out of the leaf piece into a bowl. If you are using store-bought aloe Vera, measure out 4 tablespoons and add them to a bowl.

03. Add Milk Cream or Yogurt and mix

You can use milk cream or yogurt. Measure about 2 tablespoons and add them to the scraped aloe vera in a bowl.

Not only does plain greek yogurt give you the most skin goodness in every pint, it’s a great base for adding other natural ingredients like Aloe vera gel, honey, turmeric to mention just a few for a skin cream that´s targeted to your skin needs.

04. Add Lemon Juice

Cut your fresh lemon into two parts. You can use the green lemon or the yellow one.

Squeeze a fresh lemon and add about one teaspoon of lemon juice to your mixture.

Lemon juice has astringent  qualities due to its acidic level. Ingredients with a low PH level can help decrease inflammation and oil that may contribute to the formation of acne.

05. Storage

Now that your skin cream is ready, get a clean, well sanitized container (I prefer glass containers) and store your cream. You can keep it in a refrigerator for about 5 days or you can add some preservative for it to last even longer.

06. Apply your moisturizer

On a clean, dry face, apply the cream with your hands.

Leave the cream on your face for as long as you want. You can as well use it as a mask; apply the mask mixture with your fingers. Leave the mask on for about 10 minutes. Place a towel around your shoulders in case any of the mixture starts to drip from your face.

Aloe vera can be applied to the skin alone for sunburn and inflammation relief or it can be combined with different ingredients for other topical benefits:

  • Aloe vera and rose water (for marks and burns).

  • Aloe vera, turmeric, honey, and rose water (for glowing skin).

  • Aloe vera and an egg (to firm and nourish skin).

  • Aloe vera, shea butter, and olive oil (to moisturize skin and prevent breakouts).

  • Aloe vera and brown sugar (for an exfoliation treatment)
