homemade watermelon toner

Who doesn’t enjoy a slice of watermelon during the warm weather months? Wonderful as a snack, watermelon also makes a great ingredient for a face toner.

Yes, you need to keep yourself hydrated all day long by sipping on lots of water but your skin too needs some hydration every now and then. For that, you need a hydrating mist/toner that you can spritz anytime you feel your skin is losing its freshness or just when you start feeling lazy.

The hot days take away the natural glow of our face and make our skin look dull if we don’t keep it hydrated. On days you feel your skin feels dehydrated and dull, applying some refreshing toner can add an instant glow and make your face feel lighter.

Skin brightening can easily be achieved by using any homemade carrot toner reguarly on your face. The beta carotene content present in the carrots can easily treat the damaged skin and prevent it from further damage.

The vitamin C in carrots has skin lightening properties which could promote your skin tone and make your face appear bright.

This toner can effectively hydrate your skin and also reduce the dark spots, wrinkles and facial lines on your face.

Many people don’t know these fruits have some amazing beauty benefits; but hey! worry not, that’s why I am HERE.

Watermelon is rich in amino acids, which makes it a great option for acne-prone skin or inflammed skin. For some people, it helps even the skin´s texture, brightens the skin, and even add a nice glow. Watermelon contains amino acids like citrulline, which have soothing and anti-inflammatory effects on the skin. Step 1: Shred your carrot with a box grater

If you want to shred carrots like Grandma (or just don’t have a kitchen stocked with every gadget under the sun), break out a classic box grater.

To shred carrots with a box grater, start by peeling them; Then shred away on the box grater. You’ll find that the side with the largest holes is the easiest to use and it makes the perfect-sized shreds for all sorts of remedies including skin carrot cream.

This method does take most time, but it uses a gadget you already have at home and builds some muscle!

 Step 2: Cut your watermelon

Just like cutting a pineapple is easier than it looks, slicing up a watermelon is not as complicated or messy as many people think.

Wash the watermelon. Be sure to wash your watermelon well before you cut into it.

Use a sharp knife. You will want to be able to slice through the middle of the melon without too much effort and without making too much mess.

Prepare a cutting board/plate. You need a sturdy, clean surface to rest the melon on when you’re ready to cut.

To avoid a big mess, prepare a recycled bag or bowl near your cutting board to collect the peeling rind right away and to keep you from making a big mess.

  •  Blend the watermelon and carrot in a food processor or blender until smooth.

  • Add the watermelon carrot puree to a bowl and add the witch hazel or rose water.

  • Pour the mixture into a clean bottle with a tight-fitting lid.

  • Store extra toner in the refrigerator for several days.

Apply the toner to a clean face using a cotton ball or simply by spraying. Allow the toner to remain on your face for as long as you want. You can wash it off with Luke warm water or leave it on and apply your moisturizer. (Aloe vera gel works like magic for skin moisturization).

Side Effects Of Using Watermelon Carrot Toner

Well, just as eating too many carrots might tinge your skin orange, so may putting too much carrot extract on your skin. In fact, most beauty formulations that involve carrot only use the ingredient itself in small percentages. When exposed to sunlight and heat, beta-carotene can easily oxidize and cause skin discoloration and irritation.

Watermelon is an ingredient that’s generally safe and non-irritating for all skin types. However, if you’re allergic to watermelon, it’s best to steer clear of watermelon skincare products. You’ll also want to discontinue using watermelon-infused products if you experience any irritation.
